100%rPET : a responsible and consistent choice for our bottles
At Bonneval, every business decision is guided by a simple conviction:
to protect our natural resources for the long term whilst reducing our environmental impact.
In line with this approach, we now use bottles made from 100% rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate), a recycled and recyclable material that is perfectly suited to an effective circular economy.
This decision forms part of an overarching vision: to develop sustainable packaging tailored to different uses (hospitality, retail), whilst maintaining high environmental standards.
Why 100%rPET ?
rPET is produced by recycling existing bottles. Unlike virgin PET, which is made from fossil fuels, it allows a material that has already been produced to be reused, thereby reducing the need to extract new resources.
Right from the very start of Bonneval, recycled plastic was the obvious choice. Our aim has always been to explore container formats that offer practical recycling solutions, whilst remaining convinced that recycled and recyclable PET remains one of the most suitable materials in terms of environmental performance.
Reducing the carbon footprint: a measurable impact
One of the main benefits of 100% rPET is the reduction in CO₂ emissions.
By replacing a petroleum-based raw material with a recycled one, we are helping to:
- reduce the extraction of non-renewable resources
- significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions
As a guide, an rPET bottle can generate up to 50–70 per cent fewer CO₂ emissions than a bottle made from virgin PET.
Circular economy & environmental performance
rPET is based on a virtuous cycle: used bottles are collected, sorted, recycled and then reintroduced into a new production cycle.
This process enables:
- to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill or for incineration
- to extend the lifespan of materials
- to promote a closed-loop production model
Recycled PET retains its technical properties and recyclability, ensuring quality and food safety.
A comprehensive and responsible packaging strategy
In addition to its 100% rPET products, Bonneval is developing a portfolio of complementary containers to meet the needs of various distribution channels while remaining true to its environmental mission.
The Lost Glass
Glass remains a premium material that is 100% infinitely recyclable and particularly well-suited for hotels, restaurants, and fine-dining establishments.
The lost Glass (non-returnable) allows :
- optimal recyclability through existing recycling channels
- significant premium value for natural mineral water
- perfect neutrality in taste
It is fully in line with our commitment to quality and high standards.
The aluminum bottle
Aluminum is a sustainable alternative because:
- its infinite recyclability
- its light weight
- its strength
The Bonneval aluminum bottle is ideal for on-the-go and event use while promoting an effective circular economy model, as aluminum is one of the most widely recycled materials in the world.
Bag-in-Box
The Bag-in-Box format significantly reduces the amount of plastic used per liter of bottled water.
It works by:
- a flexible inner pouch
- a recyclable outer cardboard box
Separating materials makes recycling easier and optimizes logistics (transportation, storage). This format is particularly well-suited for professional settings and institutional use.
Sustainable packaging for water with a history stretching back a thousand years.
As a mission-driven company, Bonneval structures its commitments around three pillars:
- 100% recyclable packaging
- Reducing our carbon footprint
- Protecting the spring
We draw less than 20% of the spring’s natural flow and do not drill any wells, in order to preserve the region’s hydrological balance.
A balance between natural purity and corporate responsibility
From the ancient Alpine spring to the final product, every step is designed to combine:
- environmental performance
- high quality standards
- industrial consistency
- local responsibility
When you choose Bonneval, you’re choosing a natural mineral water from Savoie whose packaging is consistent with its environmental commitment.
